In South America, the Polwarth sheep is called / known as 'Ideal' - it is another name of the breed. Polwarth sheep wool is a finewool of 22-25 micron and great staple length between 10 to 14 cm. It is super soft that rivals Merino extrafine in softness, with subtle enough luster and exceptional strenth and elasticity - thanks to the Lincoln Longwool breed genes (Polwarth breed is 75% Saxon Merino and 25% Lincoln Longwool). This wool is non-superwash, super durable, and has an excellent stitch definition. Since it also has a very good drape, it is suitable for any kinds of next-to-skin knit works and accessories including XL shawls.
