The raw material for this natural silk yarn is harvested on an Eri Silkworm farm in the Northeast of Thailand. It is manufactured in a cruelty-free way: To obtain a precious thread the cocoons of the Eri silkworm are harvested by hand and then cooked only after the silkworms "eat their way out of the cocoons". Eri silk is not as shiny as mulberry silk, but has a subtle shimmer that maybe makes it more useful for an everyday lifestyle. Also, Eri Silk drapes perfectly and is great for making shawls and scarves. Making a swatch, please take into account: silk has a tendency to stretch after washing.
