Lang Quattro is an exceptional quality combed cotton. It is ultra soft, mercerized/double gassed, and is in double knit weight. Quattro is dyed in a wide range of extremely beautiful and bright, warm solid colours. It is a summer cotton yarn suitable for any kinds of hand knit and crocheted fashion and accessories.

What is combed cotton? World cotton supply can be divided into six categories "based on commonly perceived competitive relationships between cottons of differing quality, variety, and geographic origins: extra-fine, fine, high-medium, medium, coarse count and waste/padding." Extra-fine and fine cottons are typically used for the production of combed cotton yarn (reference: Cotton Exporter's Guide).

Known facts: A red dye can be extracted not only from the madder root, Brazilwood, or metallic salts, it can also be produced from female cochineal insects. Peru produces about 200 tonnes of cochineal dye per year. France is considered the world's largest importer of cochineal. This dye is widely used in cosmetics and natural food colouring. For many South American countries, cochineal-coloured wool and cotton are important materials for folk arts.
