Incredible 4 ply is a 1st grade (premium quality, Ravelry rating: 5*), pure, next-to-the-skin millspun German angora yarn in 4 ply fingering /light sport weight. It has the same characteristics as Incredible DK: it is short-haired, unbrushed, silky and velvety to the touch, incredibly long-lasting, millspun (uniform) and hand-dyed in Scotland, has a low per cent of shedding, and develops an amazing halo. This angora is suitable for hand- and machine knitting, and is available in 36 hand-dyed solid and 12 hand painted colours. It is suitable for sweaters, accessories and warmers (hats, scarves, socks, muffs, leggings), as well as medicinal next-to-the-skin articles and underwear.
Known facts: • The Island of Orkney is located in the North Sea (it is a neighbor archipelago to Fair Isle, Shetland and Faroe), where winters are severe and living without angora knitwear is impossible (it is 7 times warmer than sheep wool). The local people use angora not only for knitting sweaters and accessories, but also for making very thin angora underwear and medicinal articles (different types of warmers), and wear them next to the skin to protect themselves from the local cold. Some of the manufacturers of medicinal wear, like Sigvaris, commercially manufacture angora warmers. • We use this yarn for athletic vests. Made of this yarn, they are great for snowboarding and skiing: You won't be cold at -15ºC and won't be hot at +10ºC.
