Cashmere DK is premium quality millspun Tibetan cashmere, one of the most valuable cashmere in the world. It is plied, smooth and uniform, and is dyed in a range of deep, beautiful solid colours (no tone-on-tone variations, no flaws in the colour during the wash). This cashmere is suitable for hand and machine knitting, crochet. It is easy to care for.
• For information: Cashmere is yarn made from the undercoat of the Kashmir Goat. The most valuable cashmere fiber is produced in inner Mongolia and Tibet. China is the largest producer of raw cashmere and current estimates of production put their annual clip at approximately 10,000 metric tons. Mongolia produces somewhat more than 3,000 tons annually with Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan, India and Central Asian Republics producing significant but lesser amounts.
The best quality cashmere is made of the undercoat of cashmere goats, which live with harsh winds and poor vegetation in the barren Asian steppes. The more extreme the conditions, the better the quality of cashmere. There is also no possibility of raising cashmere goats away from their origin, they die after a few months of comfortable living on farms.
* Tip: pilling doesn't indicate poor quality of the yarn. When buying cashmere, avoid skeins that look very fuzzy or have a halo, they will pill more quickly. A small amount of pilling is normal for cashmere garments, as well as for angora, merino, some types of silk, and quivit articles. Just gently brush your cashmere garment, when it is compelte dry, with a soft hair-brush (or use a lint remover) on both sides (right and reverse) to remove pilling lint; or remove it by hands. -Irene & Mr.Sheep

Garment Care: gentle hand wash in lukewarm water with eucalyptus wash or any other woolwash "no rinse" (or washing medium such as Dawn) only. Use the same temperature of water for both wash and rinse to avoid "shoking" the fiber. Do not twist or pull the garment, but gently squeeze it to remove excess water. Lay flat to dry, avoiding exposure to direct sunlight pulling a garment into correct shape.
